Swedish folk music meets Baroque music and Bach!
Two music styles are woven together by two fantastic musicians.
The key harp player Erik Rydvall has in recent years emerged as a star in Swedish folk music. With his strong personal expression and his constant desire for new challenges, he is a hotly sought after musician. During the training at Kungl. The Stockholm School of Music was Erik and started up the multiple award-winning folk music trio Nordic. A few years later, the duo Rydvall / Mjelva was formed together with the Norwegian harding error player Olav Luksengård Mjelva. He is also a member of Ale Möller Xenomania. He is also an excellent string player, which he got to show in the Tomas Ledin show "Sharp Mode".
To be able to play Bach on the key harp, Erik Rydvall has made an instrument with an extra melody string - a "bach harp"!
Kristine West plays flutes of wood, such as recorder, traverse flute and various types of transverse flutes and pipes. She is a multiple award winning flute player with roots in folk music. With a master's degree in early music at Kungl. Stockholm School of Music, several scholarships from eg. a. She has established herself on the music scene, as well as with the extensive Academy activities, the Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, the Swedish Arts Council, the Arts Council and the Swedish National Board of Music. As a soloist and ensemble musician, Kristine has toured throughout the Nordic countries, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey. She is frequently employed as a flute player in Baroque orchestras such as the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble. With 2 albums in her own name on the record label Daphne, she has received praise from, among others. a. Sweden's Radio P2 and international press.
The duo offers a mix of traditional folk music, feature material and baroque music that swings!
There is a separate entrance to the church from the side via a ramp for people with disabilities. However, a functionally adapted WC toilet is missing.
The Old Church is centrally located in Östersund above Stortorget.
The concert is presented in collaboration with Musik Västernorrland, the Swedish Arts Council, the municipality of Östersund, the Study Association for Adult Education, TeloGott and Freja's bakery.
