Art exhibition in the C by Maria Olsson @mariaolssonbildkonst.
"I love to paint because it gives me peace of mind and rest. For me, painting is a long process, and I work with a painting for quite some time. To end up in the wonderful state" Flow "(when time disappears), is said to be the best state one may be in.
I somehow think that you have to "build" your emotions into a painting and it takes a certain amount of time. It happens that I come in contact with an inner state of sadness and loss and maybe my paintings convey that. I'm fascinated by older photographs, because I want to try to understand how people used to feel. How did a boy think in the early 20th century? What did he have to contend with. I use the older photographs and put the people in a different background and see what happens.
Trying to be true to myself in my creation and to convey emotions is important to me. I paint a lot in water-based oil and think it is a wonderful material, but have become interested in working with collage lately. A fun and playful way to build exciting scenes / pictures with. "/ Maria
