A premiere of one of Lars Norén's last plays.
A group of people, it is not clear how many, are trapped and pressed together within a rectangle, in the middle of the stage. There are no walls to enclose them. They still can't get out of there, and don't know why they are there either.
With that stage direction, this play by Lars Norén begins, one of the last he wrote before his death, which is now premiering at Dramaten under the direction of Sofia Adrian Jupiter. A play that once again shows how Lars Norén constantly developed as a playwright, how he never stopped renewing himself.
Sofia Adrian Jupither and Lars Norén had a long-term collaboration, and she has previously premiered a number of his plays, most recently Vintermusik and Episode.
The performance premieres at Dramaten and then plays on all collaborative stages.
"Sofia Adrian Jupiter stages Lars Norén's late play as an orchestra conductor. It becomes a beautiful and nasty image of the radical individualism of our time.”
"The work is intelligently constructed with a tenderness in the gaze so that it becomes deeply complex but at the same time direct and accessible to the viewer."
"Jupiter makes 'Solitaire' a 'Waiting for Godot' for our time."
