Lars Gullin was one of Sweden's most important jazz musicians. Although he was only 48 years old – he lived between 1928 and 1976 – he managed to make such an impression that he will always be remembered as one of our greatest jazz musicians. He innovated the way of playing the baritone saxophone through, among other things, a soft and expressive tone and a wealth of ideas in his improvisations that was peculiar. But he was also a prominent arranger and composer and his melodies are still played both by older jazz musicians and not least by young jazz musicians. As an arranger he was in demand and in addition to his own compositions he arranged many melodies from "The American Songbook".
We now have a unique opportunity to experience Lars Gullin's music again when some of the county's prominent musicians, led by Leif Olsson, offer a full evening.
