The program consists of three contrasting works, although both Bohlin and Shostakovich reflect their surroundings with the music.
The jazz icon Maria Schneider, the new American jazz's greatest composer, organizer and big band leader has written a string quartet in his own highly personal style.
Our contemporary composer Jonas S Bohlin reflects on our time and highlights the world's horrors and problems in his innovative work Chromatic Congruence Quartet 2018, which is written for the Weber quartet.
The Russian composer Dmitry Shostakovich, depicted in 1946 the Second World War's hardships and phases in a composition that was called the War Quartet, an epic and emotional quartet of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
The Web Quartet is one of Sweden's most established string quartets. The quartet won "Young and Promising" in 2005 and has participated in several renowned festivals, such as Gotland Chamber Music Festival, Korsholm Music Festival in Finland, Båstad Chamber Music Festival, Stockholm New Music Festival and Musical Gardens Warsaw. They have recorded for radio and TV, among other things. in the SVT's "Weekly Concert" and made CD recordings.The quartet has studied for Lars Fresk, Simon Rowland-Jones, Chilingirian Quartet, Paavo Pohjola, Allegri Quartet and Thomas Brandis.
The Web Quartet is diligent ambassadors for contemporary music and has commissioned works by several Swedish composers such as Sven-David Sandström, Albert Schnelzer, Miklós Maros and Fredrik Högberg. They have collaborated with many fine musicians, among others. Bengt Forsberg, Martin Fröst, Staffan Scheja, Margareta Hallin, Karin Dornbusch, Terés Löf, Fredrik Paulsson, Johan Fröst, Jakob Koranyi, Jeanette Köhn, Samuel Berthod and Eric Ericson's Chamber Choir. The quartet likes to explore other genres and cultures and has played with Suranjana Ghosh (tabla), Marcelo Nisinman (bandoneon), Lars Jansson Trio, dance company Norrdans and actors Marika Lagercrantz and Krister Henriksson and others.
As the Quartet in Residence at Murberget, the County Museum Västernorrland (2005-2010), they laid a foundation for developing and implementing unique cross-border projects. Their unbound search for exciting repertoire and interesting collaborations has led to a number of Swedish and European premieres.
