It took 12 years to build the Old Church and it was opened on New Year's Day 1846 by chief predictor Olof Dillner. The Old Church is centrally located at Kyrkgatan in Östersund.
The church is a neoclassical long-term building with the lantern and a lower sacristia in the east. The church rests on a foundation of natural stone, the tower is about 20 m high. The building is made of timber and discolored in yellow.
