Three generations of Sami women in award-winning epic drama.
In Ædnan we get to follow three generations of Sami women and their life stories from the early 20th century to our time. It is a story about the right to land that has been denied. About mines and regulated rivers that cut their lives. About a language that leaves people. It is a story about those who seek their roots. And those who apply for Swedishness. Shard by shard, generation by generation, the emotional landscape emerges in this magnificent drama.
The rich character gallery is depicted on stage by six actors. In one of the roles, we see Lene Cecilia Sparrok who made her debut in 2016 as an actress in the film Sameblod (cinema premiere 2017). For her role, she received the Golden Bug in 2018 for best female lead. Directed by Malin Stenberg, among other things noted for Disguised God at the Folkoperan 2018.
The performance is based on Linnea Axelsson's successful book Ædnan, which was awarded the August Prize 2018. This is a performance for all the senses, where language, choreography and music enhance the experience.
