This market has traditions that go back 1,000 years in time. For around 1,000 years people from near and far have come here to celebrate the Gergorie day in March. Originally, the market took place on Frösön, but after the founding of Östersund, the market was moved to the town.
Today the Gregorie market is an unforgettable three-day winter festival where you can see the travelling farmers of yore enter the city. The Gregorie market is a tradition that is highly regarded by both the people of Jämtland and the people of Tröndelag in Norway as it strengthens the centuries old ties between the two regions.
